Doctor Who New Season 2003

The next season of Big Finish's audio Doctor Who adventures featuring Paul McGann as the Eighth Doctor will begin this December, following the release of November's 40th anniversary story, “Zagreus”. The four stories have been written by Robert Shearman, Philip Martin, Jim Mortimore and Will Shindler.

Big Finish co-producer Gary Russell explaines that there will be a slender running arc going through the four stories. This arc will develop from the events that take place during Zagreus, and listeners imagining that the cliff-hanger to last year's “Neverland” would be wrapped up by the end of “Zagreus” may be disappointed. We have big plans for the Eighth Doctor and this four-story arc is only the beginning..."

This new season will see the arrival of a new friend for the Doctor in the shape of the first truly alien companion in Doctor Who. "He is a Eutermesan and all we can tell you about him is that he's not human, has a vestigial exoskeleton and can change his skin colour at will ..." The new companion's name is C'rizz (rhymes with 'berries'), and he will be played by Conrad Westmaas, who impressed Big Finish whilst playing a small but significant role in this summer's Fifth Doctor adventure, “Omega”.

Also recorded during these sessions was a new single-episode adventure Living Legend, written by Doctor Who Magazine comic strip writer Scott Gray and starring Paul McGann. This CD has been recorded for possible use on a future free giveaway CD, hopefully for Doctor Who Monthly.

The stories are Scherzo”, by Robert Shearman, “The Creed of the Kromon” by Philip Martin, “The Natural History of Fear2 by Jim Mortimore and “The Twilight Kingdom”, by Will Shindler. More details, including comments from Producer/Director Gary Russell, can be found on the Big Finish Website.
